Cookie Policy

Cookies are small files a website saves on your device. Apps and sites can also save small notes in your browser's storage. This page lists everything Slate and alternate-reality.co.uk save, and why.

In the Slate app

Name What it does How long
slate_session (cookie) Keeps you signed in 30 days, or until you sign out
slate_oauth (cookie) Keeps a Google sign-in safe while it's in progress 10 minutes
slate.wpm (device storage) Remembers the teleprompter speed you set Until you clear it
slate.install.dismissed (device storage) Remembers you closed the "add to Home Screen" tip Until you clear it
slate.brief.seen (device storage) Remembers you've seen the filming tips Until you clear it
slate-v1 (app cache) Keeps Slate's app files and offline screen on your device, so it opens fast. No personal data Until Slate updates it or you clear it

The sign-in cookie keeps you signed in. The other items only record choices you made or keep the app working. They're all strictly necessary, so they don't need your consent. Slate sets no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

On alternate-reality.co.uk

  • Videos. Our homepage background video plays from Vimeo in "do not track" mode, so it sets no cookies. Our other videos come from YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive and Instagram, and only load when you press play. YouTube videos use its privacy-enhanced player and Vimeo videos its do-not-track mode. Once a video plays, that service may store data on your device and see what you watched.
  • Fonts. We host our fonts ourselves, so loading them sends nothing to anyone else.
  • Forms. Our forms are run by Netlify, our website host. They set no cookies.
  • Booking a call. If you apply and book a call, the booking calendar comes from Calendly and loads only at that step. Calendly shows its own cookie banner, so you can choose what it stores.

We don't set any analytics, advertising or tracking cookies ourselves.

Your choices

You can clear cookies and site data in your browser or phone settings at any time. If you clear the sign-in cookie, you'll need to sign in again.

If we ever add analytics, we'll update this page first and give you a simple way to say no.
